The Korbel Undergraduate Research Journal is a new, student-run academic journal based out of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver that is now accepting submissions for the inaugural Spring 2019 online publication!Â
What type of work is eligible for submission?Â
- Original academic research.Â
- Policy and current events essays.Â
We are looking for work with a focus on international studies and affairs. Students from all majors are eligible to submit so long as they hold undergraduate status and the submission is topically relevant.Â
The journal is accepting submissions from students at the University of Denver, ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø College, University of ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø, and the University of ºÚÁÏÍø¹ÙÍø Denver.Â
Policy and current events essaysÂ
- Maximum of 1500 words.Â
- Any pieces originally submitted as coursework should reflect the student’s original perspective and conform to all other journal standards.Â
Original ResearchÂ
- Between 4,000-6,000 words.Â
- Any research involving human subjects must include evidence of approval by the student’s Institutional Review Board.Â
- All submissions must utilize Chicago footnote citations.Â
- Works should be free of major grammar, syntax, and spelling errors.Â
- Works should reflect clear knowledge of all relevant subject matter.Â
- Submissions must conform to their respective university’s policies of academic integrity as well as the University of Denver’s honor code and our commitment to diversity and inclusiveÂ
How do I submit?Â
- Carefully review all submission criteria and guidelines*Â
- Email your submission to korbelurj@gmail.com. All submissions must be in a Word Doc format with the file name formatted as follows: lastname.titleofproject.Â
- Please include your first and last name as well as the title of the piece in the subject line of the email. Include an abstract in the email as well.Â
- The deadline to submit your work is Sunday, April 7Â
A double-blind review process will be used for all works submitted. Personal identifiers will be removed and pieces will be distributed to undergraduate reviewers knowledgeable in the relevant subjects. A course of action will be determined for each piece based on our selection criteria. Our editors will reach out to submitters with one of the following decisions: accept, accept with minor edits, reconsider with major edits, or reject.
