In this discussion, Tania Islas Weinstein will share her experiences and observations from the Second International Gathering of Women Who Struggle organized by the Zapatista Army for National Liberation (EZLN) which took place in December 2019 in the Caracol “Whirlwind of Our Words” in Chiapas, Mexico.
The Gathering – which centered around the theme of “Violence against Women” – included opportunities for participants to share each others' pain and rage by denouncing experiences of gender- and sexual-based violence, present ideas and proposals to tackle these pressing issues, and enjoy and celebrate in a space where no men were allowed.
The talk will center on the tangible organization and on the political possibilities of this unique event.
